Intersolar: aleo presents new premium solar panels from the LEO series

PRESS RELEASE – Prenzlau, Germany, 22 April 2022:

leo solar is presenting its new LEO premium panel series at Intersolar. The solar panels will be available as glass-foil panels for on-roof and in-roof installation. The roof-mounted panels feature one model which is one half-cell string shorter. Both panel sizes can be interconnected. Thanks to the flexible range of sizes, it is possible to optimise the use of space on almost any roof.

You can find press images here: https://www.aleo-solar.de/pressrelease/intersolar-aleo-zeigt-neue-premium-solarmodule-der-leo-serie/

The LEO family has a suitable panel for practically every application. The full-size flagship LEO panel (1,752 x 1,144 x 40 mm) with 108 half-cells made of monocrystalline silicon with a white back sheet delivers a peak output of 405 watts. The short model with 96 half-cells delivers 360 watts. The LEO black model with a black back sheet and identical dimensions is available for operators who require a consistent and elegant look for their solar plant.

High efficiency for the entire service life

aleo minimises series resistance by using silicon half-cells with ten busbars, thus maximising the efficiency of its premium panels. Instead of flat wires, thin, round wires are used, so that more light enters the cells.
The closely arranged busbars not only increase the efficiency, but also the durability of the panels by providing alternative current paths. aleo thus prevents a major cause of the diminishing output of solar panels over their service life. In addition, the tried-and-tested upright packaging method of the panels prevents damage and defects from occurring during transport.

Maximum solar power harvest with minimum ecological impact

aleo photovoltaic panels incorporate consistent climate protection right from the manufacturing stage. aleo produces its LEO solar panels in Germany. This ensures short transport distances. In addition, 100 percent of the electricity used for panel production comes from renewable energies. „For climate and environmental protection, it is important to achieve the highest possible solar power harvest over the years, whilst using as few resources as possible. That’s why we not only attach great importance to maximum efficiency, but also to the long service life of our panels“, says William Chen, CEO of aleo.

The LEO panels are also larger than their predecessors. This means that more solar power can be installed in less time. Nevertheless, they can withstand high snow loads (up to 8,100 Pa pressure) and storms (3,600 Pa suction). They are also certified for extreme conditions such as salt mist in coastal regions, desert regions or ammonia from animal sheds.

The principle of longevity also applies to the details. For example, aleo uses original MC4 connectors with MULTILAM technology. The spring-loaded contact fins ensure that the losses on the connectors remain low over the entire service life.

The 25-year product and performance guarantee underpins the long service life of LEO panels. In the event of a warranty claim, the company bears the whole cost of replacing the panels.

Diverse options for roof- and building integration

The LEO Sol in-roof variant also comes in all black, with a peak output of 330 watts and a size of 1,169 x 1,607 x 17 mm.

PRESS RELEASE – Wittenberg/Germany, 11 April 2022:

Tesvolt, one of the world’s leading producers of energy storage technology for the commercial and industrial sectors, is currently experiencing a sharp increase in the demand for its battery storage systems that significantly exceed long-term growth trends. Against the backdrop of dramatic increases in oil and gas prices, Tesvolt’s order volume has seen a rapid increase over recent weeks and, in March 2022, peaked at 195% over that of the previous year.

You can find press images here: https://www.tesvolt.com/de/presse/markt-reagiert-auf-energiekrise-nachfrage-nach-tesvolt-stromspeichern-steigt-deutlich.html

Daniel Hannemann, Tesvolt CEO and co-founder: „The tragic events in Ukraine are showing just how much the industrial sector depends on Russian oil and gas. This vast surge in orders highlights that increasingly more companies are now looking to quickly and permanently reduce their dependency on fossil fuels. In order to do so, we need to effectively couple renewable energy generation systems with decentralised energy storage solutions.

Currently, demand for commercial energy storage systems has drastically surged, particularly from Western Europe. The move towards replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy and suitable storage systems is especially strong among medium-sized businesses. The key drivers behind this development are the high fuel prices and the expansion of the charging infrastructure.

Daniel Hannemann: „Efficient storage and use of renewable energy is the most important requirement for becoming independent of oil and gas in the long term – and for achieving the ecologically necessary energy transition. This has become increasingly more evident in recent weeks in the European economy, and it is now up to our sector to provide first-rate solutions for meeting this demand quickly and comprehensively. And this is precisely what we are investing in.

DHYBRID and Vibran complete largest microgrid in Colombia

PRESS RELEASE

DHYBRID and Vibran complete largest microgrid in Colombia

Supply security for remote region

Ungía (Colombia)/Gauting (Germany), December 15, 2021. In the Colombian municipality of Ungía, DHYBRID and its regional partner, Vibran, have installed the largest hybrid microgrid in the country. This isolated community in the Chocó Department is not accessible by road. Until now, supply was restricted to 8 hours a day and was provided by diesel generators. Thanks to the new microgrid, over 10,000 families now have a reliable power supply around the clock.

You can find press images here: https://www.dhybrid.de/en/press-article/dhybrid-and-vibran-complete-largest-microgrid-in-colombia

The new grid is controlled and monitored by DHYBRID’s manufacturer-independent and technology agnostic Universal Power Platform (UPP). This energy management system connects four generators with a 780 kWp solar system and a 333 kWh power storage unit with a maximum output of 122 kW.

CO2 emissions cut by 818 tons per year

In addition to eliminating 818 tons of CO2 emissions from diesel generators per year, the microgrid also reduces exhaust emissions and fine dust pollution at the local level. The total fuel savings amount to 328,000 liters, not including the energy for the cumbersome transportation of diesel fuel through the jungle by boat.

Miguel Lotero Robledo, Deputy Minister of Energy, personally inaugurated the microgrid. The new system was funded through a government program aimed at supplying remote areas with green energy.

Commissioning via remote access

During the construction phase, the team faced a number of challenges including the transportation of components to the region. On top of that, the coronavirus pandemic meant that the engineers from DHYBRID were not able to travel from Germany to Colombia. These challenges were solved through close cooperation between the local experts and DHYBRID engineers in Germany: The system was installed by Vibran’s on-site team and configured and commissioned from Germany.

The project shows how a gradual expansion of renewable energy supply in Latin America can succeed: Operators and energy suppliers remain flexible through a technology agnostic energy management system. They can benefit from the best solution available at the moment of implementation but remain open to extend their capacities regardless of manufacturers and technology. This way they can optimally adapt the output of grids to a growing demand in the future,” explains Tom Fricke, Head of Energy Storage at DHYBRID. DHYBRID is already planning three more projects in Colombia.

Zimbabwe's Largest Tea Producer Implements Microgrid from DHYBRID and Blockpower

PRESS RELEASE

Zimbabwe’s Largest Tea Producer Implements Microgrid from DHYBRID and Blockpower

Project to be showcased at EM-Power in Munich, Germany, October 6-8, 2021

Harare (Zimbabwe)/Munich (Germany), September 30, 2021. Tanganda Tea Company Limited, Zimbabwe’s largest tea producer and one of the largest on the African continent, uses its own microgrids at Tingamira and Jersey sites for secure and environmentally friendly energy supply since July 2021. The system consists of a megawatt-class solar plant, a lithium-ion energy storage system, and three diesel generators. It was implemented by DHYBRID and its partner, South African renewable energy specialists Blockpower. In addition to tea and coffee, avocados, and macadamia nuts are grown on site.

You can find press images here: https://www.dhybrid.de/en/press-article/zimbabwes-largest-tea-producer-implements-microgrid-from-dhybrid-and-blockpower-30

Sustainable production across the value chain is becoming increasingly important for companies like Tanganda. This includes a climate-friendly and reliable energy supply. Solar hybrid systems are an ideal solution for this: They minimise CO2 emissions and reduce operating costs at the same time,” says Tom Fricke, Head of Energy Storage at DHYBRID.

Payback Time Is Three to Four Years

The region in eastern Zimbabwe is remote and difficult to reach. By reducing diesel consumption and high transport costs, the investment in the new technology will pay for itself within three to four years. Compared to the previous energy supply, which relied on diesel generators and the unstable public power grid, CO2 emissions are reduced up to 6,000 tons per year.

DHYBRID’s energy management system, the Universal Power Platform (UPP) controls all major components: the 2.6 MWp PV system, a lithium-ion storage system with 980 kWh capacity and an output of 1,000 kW as well as several diesel generators used for back-up supply.

The system is designed to be scalable and can be expanded at any time to include additional energy generators and storage. The integrated SCADA solution allows the overall microgrid to be monitored and controlled, further consumption levels are displayed in real time.

Here in Africa, we often have to deal with very heterogeneous energy systems that are moreover growing gradually. For this, we need a technology-open and very flexible energy management system,” says Kyle Bohnsack, Director of Blockpower. “DHYBRID’s UPP is an ideal solution that we can leverage through our regional expertise.

DHYBRID will showcase the project from October 6-8, 2021, at EM-Power in Munich, Germany, booth B5 552.

An evolutionary leap for ENERGY STORAGE > Expo for Decarbonised Industries

PRESS RELEASE

An evolutionary leap for ENERGY STORAGE > Expo for Decarbonised Industries

A platform that unites technology and services for industrial and commercial decarbonisation

Düsseldorf, 28 September 2021 – Messe Düsseldorf expands ENERGY STORAGE EUROPE into an Expo for Decarbonised Industries. The new format will be held from 20 to 22 September 2022 at the Düsseldorf trade fair centre in parallel with the world-leading trade fair glasstec. Along with a variety of storage solutions, it offers the industrial and commercial sectors a range of products and solutions, along with consultation, for decarbonisation that has never been seen before. The solid progress of this trade fair reflects the revolution in industry, politics, NGOs and society in general.

Press graphic for download.

Climate-neutrality and decarbonisation are two mega-trends for the industry of tomorrow. In North-Rhine Westphalia, Thyssen Krupp Steel took on a pioneering role with its implementation of a special hydrogen process. Simultaneously, the state government and federal government are pursuing the goal of advancing climate protection and transformation of the energy system with significant investments in line with their Climate Change Act. The Expo for Decarbonised Industries > ENERGY STORAGE forms the perfect platform for industrial and commercial decarbonisation in Germany.

The title, “Expo for Decarbonised Industries”, addresses many industries whose leading trade fairs are already held on our home ground”, states Gerrit Nawracala, Project Director for the trade fair, and continues: “We are thus able to find the right answers to the challenges and questions that our customers have on climate protection, energy costs and supply security in a targeted way.

Whether the industry be chemistry, steel, automotive or construction, this structural change affects all of them alike and will be accelerated by the new political framework conditions. “The energy revolution needs solutions that work on an industrial scale, such as those for producing hydrogen, for example. To this end, we network our partner industries with specialised technological suppliers and service providers”, states Nawracala. This specialist trade fair will be supported by the German Engineering Association (VDMA) and its partner of many years, the German Energy Storage System Association, a registered association, in expanding its themes.

Holding the Expo for Decarbonised Industries > ENERGY STORAGE and glasstec simultaneously creates a win-win situation for the industry. Glass manufacturing is an energy-intensive process that also creates high quantities of CO2 emissions. Stricter constraints and increasing CO2 taxes are forcing the glass industry to act, and not just in Germany. This creates a huge demand for solutions for reducing emissions and more energy efficiency. This demand is covered with custom solutions and products from our exhibitors”, affirms Nawracala.

In addition to the huge variety in energy storage systems, the Expo for Decarbonised Industries > ENERGY STORAGE also offers a high-quality conference and forum programme on the subjects of research, science and industry which are currently affecting both manufacturers and potential users of energy storage systems. Marked rise in international orders

Our mission is to bring affordable green energy to every corner of the world,” explains Tesvolt’s Commercial Director, Daniel Hannemann. “We’ve come quite a bit closer to the goal yet again. In addition to our sales activities in Europe, we’ve established new sales partnerships in Latin America and Africa and deepened our partnership in the Australian market. We’ve also noticed the effect of this in the number of international orders, which has risen by 170% when compared to the first half of 2020.

Market share in Europe and overseas

In Europe, Tesvolt’s market share in the commercial energy storage systems segment is around 20%, with its market share in its core segment of battery storage systems in the 30 kWh to 1 MWh size classes at 49% in Germany alone. Tesvolt has a market share in the double digits in some of its overseas markets as well.

Major renewable energy specialist named sales partner in Africa

For the African market, Tesvolt works with Cape Town-based Solarworld Africa, one of the biggest specialist retailers for high-quality components in the field of renewable energies.

As the energy infrastructure in Africa varies widely from country to country, our customers’ requirements are also extremely diverse,” says Managing Director of Solarworld Africa, Gregor Küpper. “The storage systems from Tesvolt can fulfil all of these requirements.”

South America: huge market potential for power storage systems

In South America, Tesvolt works together with the project developer Brasal Energia, which is based in Brazil’s capital of Brasília. For the Brazilian market, Tesvolt’s authorised service partner is Ideatek, which is based in the São Paulo area.

Tesvolt is the technology leader in the commercial storage system market and works together with the premium inverter manufacturer SMA. That generates a lot of trust and puts the company on a good footing in Brazil,” says Ideatek Director Rogerio Mattos. “Power storage systems have huge market potential in Brazil because the electricity for business and industry during the day is five to eight times more expensive than during night-time hours.” Battery storage systems therefore often amortise within just a few years.

Tesvolt has already outfitted over 2,200 projects worldwide with its battery storage systems. Power storage systems from Tesvolt help commercial and industrial companies on every continent reliably draw inexpensive electricity.

Tesvolt aims to accelerate inductive charging for electric vehicles

PRESS RELEASE

Tesvolt aims to accelerate inductive charging for electric vehicles

Energy storage system manufacturer now shareholder in think tank for high-performance charging

Wittenberg, Munich/Germany, 7 July 2021 – Tesvolt is now a shareholder in Stercom Power Solutions, a first mover in the field of inductive charging. The two companies want to join forces to expedite wireless charging of electric cars, buses and lorries to make driving electric even more convenient, efficient and economical. The expert in commercial energy storage systems, already the recipient of several awards for innovation, and the think tank for high-performance charging have found answers to as yet unresolved questions – like delivering sufficient charging power and finding the right parking position over the magnetic coil.

Supercharging delivers unlimited range

Stercom is a complete technology specialist and one of the first to develop really good products in the field of inductive charging,” explains Simon Schandert, founder and Chief Technical Officer at Tesvolt. “Our aim is to work together to bring highly efficient charging systems to the market and even in the medium term to enable inductive supercharging with up to 200 kilowatt charging power. This would also make it more efficient to charge while driving in the future.

Wireless charging involves transferring electrical energy in an inductive, in other words contactless, process from a magnetic coil in or on the floor to a receiver coil in the electric vehicle. This allows for many short but high-speed charging processes – for example on shopping centre forecourts, in multi-storey car parks as well as at home. Car makers like Audi and BMW are already installing charging coils in new vehicle models.

Inductive 44 kW charging station

So far the only wireless charging suitable for mass-production has just 3.2 kW. We want to introduce an inductive charging station to the market with a charging power of 44 kW, which means charging 14 times faster,” explains Daniel Hannemann, founder and Commercial Director at Tesvolt. “The marketable silicon carbide technology from Stercom works at 95 percent efficiency to permit a highly streamlined energy transfer – and a distance of up to 20 centimetre between the sender and receiver coils, something no other provider on the market has been able to do.” The charging stations will also contain intelligent software which shows the driver the right parking position for the vehicle over the magnetic coil.

Smaller batteries mean cheaper electric cars

Short and frequent charging dispenses with the need for large car batteries, given that the batteries only need to be around half the size. This significantly lowers the price of electric vehicles while making them lighter and therefore more efficient,” says Robert Sterff, founder and CEO at Stercom. Short and powerful charges do however place high demands on car batteries. “In Germany there is lot of research being done into solid-state batteries, which are particularly well suited for this.

First vehicles charge wirelessly

There are still some other challenges when it comes to inductive charging. The issue of how to pay for wireless charging, for example, has not been resolved. And the applicable DIN standard 61980-1 “Electric vehicle wireless power transfer systems” is still in the development stage. “We have already delivered inductive technology for international car manufacturers, and vehicles are in the test-run phase around the world,” reports Sterff. Wireless charging is, he continues, the future. Test routes with magnetic coils under the asphalt are already in place in countries like Italy, France and Sweden. And BMW has predicted blanket coverage of inductive charging by 2030 already.
