With the storage computer, homeowners can quickly and easily find out how much electricity they could actually save from the grid with a PV system and battery storage. The online tool shows the possible share of own consumption and degree of self-sufficiency and recommends the optimum storage size for the respective household.

The calculations are based on a consumption profile that reflects a typical single-family household. In contrast to standard computers, it is based on the assumption that the family consumes electricity in the evenings and at weekends rather than during the day during the week. The load profile has been developed in cooperation with the Berlin University of Applied Sciences.
Particularly pleasant for the user: The calculation result appears at the same time as the personal data is entered, e.g. annual household electricity consumption. Thanks to the responsive programming, the calculator can also be used on various end devices such as tablets and smartphones.

In an extended version, the app can also calculate the actual savings potential and the internal consumption rate. The app is available for iOS and Android and can be flexibly adapted to your corporate design.
Animation of the energy transition
Sunbeam has produced a short film for the knowledge service provider Solarpraxis and the trade magazine pv magazine, which shows the next necessary steps to achieve the energy transition.
The almost six-minute animation video “Shaping the energy transition – seizing opportunities” answers the following questions in a simple and understandable way: How can the energy transition be made more equitable? How to create a fair energy market? How can electricity grids be modernized in a meaningful way?
In order to make the complex subject as clear as possible, the short film uses simple recognizable elements. The individual actors are created in Illustrator and Photoshop. The animation was realized with After Effects.
The film is aimed at a broad public and was shown for the first time at the 11th Forum Solarpraxis as part of a speech by Karl-Heiz Remmers.
RheinEnergie PV online calculator

The regional energy supplier Rheinenergie had already decided in 2015 to use one of our solar computers as the lead generator for its own homepage. In 2017 an update to the latest server-based variant with API took place. In addition to higher performance and ease of maintenance, the new version also offers a backend in which Rheinenergie can independently adjust the default values (e. g. electricity price or consumption) as well as all variables (e. g. remuneration form the Renewable Energy Sources Act, module properties, etc.) at any time. In addition, the design and calculation of battery memories has been integrated.

The users first design the PV system. The result gives the user the possibility to add a battery storage device.
On the basis of the location and roof data, the PV calculator first determines the irradiation and recommends a suitable solar package based on the consumption data.
On the basis of the proposed solar package, the solar yield, various economic aspects and the rate of self-sufficiency and own consumption are calculated. The latter values are visualized using live diagrams.
If the user has added a storage tank, the lease rate as well as yield and profitability calculations are recalculated on the basis of the user data on consumption and usage profile as well as the calculated yield data of the PV system.
