Fernlite scales up monitoring and data management

The Steca Solarix PLI by KATEK Memmingen is designed to be an all-in-one solution. It supplies consumers with 230 V AC, charges batteries with an integrated MPPT charge controller, and enables the connection to the power grid — or to a generator, for fully off-grid installations. With its monitoring and even large-scale data management capabilities, the FernLite monitoring solution effectively complements off-grid inverters like the Solarix PLI.

“For comprehensive monitoring, our customers need a website that displays the most common parameters of systems with several inverters,” says Javier Rodriguez, Director of Steca Ibérica, Steca’s Spanish distributor. “With FernLite, they can easily view a flowchart of the entire system and retrieve various consumption graphs, battery charge levels, and other system parameters.”

FernLite also allows users to configure inverters remotely and to choose between different notification options. The system is available in English, Spanish, and French.

“For residential and small commercial systems, we only install Steca Solarix PLI-5000-48 inverters. We’ve installed more than 100 devices so far,”, says Antoine Saliba, General Manager at Energies Sport Santé (ESS), an EPC contractor for renewable energies. “I can monitor all devices that have FernLite from my office. It’s a fantastic tool for installers.”

The SolBrid: Extra flexible new Steca inverter for up to 4 PV strings

PRESS RELEASE – Memmingen, 07.06.2023

//

With the new StecaGrid inverter SolBrid, Steca presents an exceptionally flexible and powerful three-phase 10 kW hybrid inverter. The SolBrid has up to four MPP trackers, which makes it suitable for photovoltaic installations on complex roof layouts. With a battery charging current of up to 25 A, it can be connected to a wide range of different high-voltage battery types. The inverter can be combined with the StecaGrid Switch to shift into stand-alone mode and supply a building with emergency power in the case of a blackout. That way the energy consumers in the house can seamlessly use power from the PV installation or a battery.

Future-proof, thanks to flexible PV input ports

“The SolBrid provides installers with a particularly flexible solution for a multitude of system variants, including complex roof layouts, different module and battery types, and standby power supply. The new inverter covers a wide range of applications,” says KATEK’s Dr. Peter Grabs.

Depending on the product variant, two or four MPP trackers enable a maximum photovoltaic input current of 15 Ampere each and an input voltage of up to 1,000 Volts. The first unit of the product range has an output of 10 kW.

App control and variable interfaces

Installation of the new inverter is possible via an app and users can access the operating data via mobile device. As a result of its IP65 standard housing, the inverter can also be installed outdoors.

A battery management system for BYD storage systems and an RS485 interface have been integrated (with further storage systems to be added). The RS485 enables the StecaGrid Switch circuit breaker and additional energy meters to be connected.

StecaGrid Switch for even more functions

Installing the StecaGrid Switch together with the SolBrid adds even more functions: The intelligent circuit breaker enables emergency power operation as well as real time measurement of energy consumption with deviation rate of just 2%, for accurate monitoring.

KATEK presents new three-phase Steca hybrid inverter at the Intersolar

PRESS RELEASE – Memmingen, 4. Mai 2022:

Relaunch of monitoring portal rounds off range of devices on display //

For the first time, KATEK Memmingen GmbH will show the new three-phase Steca hybrid inverter, the StecaGrid Hybrid 10023_3, with 10 kW inverter power, which can also be achieved in battery mode, at the 2022 Intersolar. At the same time, KATEK has also completely redesigned its Steca sunCloud monitoring portal. The portal now has a new interface and also supports hybrid systems. The StecaGrid Hybrid 10023_3 is the first product from a new product and development division for Steca hybrid inverters, which was created by KATEK last year.

High efficiency and standby power compatibility

The new Steca hybrid inverter has a maximum efficiency of over 98 percent and outstanding partial load operation capability. Two MPP trackers enable flexible system design.

In combination with the optional StecaGrid switch, the device can shut off a home from the grid if there is a power failure and convert to standby power mode. This system solution ensures that the hybrid inverter supplies all three phases in the home grid, making it possible to continue to use all end devices without any problem.

Clever overall concept

With its passive cooling, the StecaGrid Hybrid 10023_3 is designed for particularly low-maintenance, low-noise operation: thanks to the ventilator-free design, the hybrid inverter is functional without any moving parts. As a result, defects are avoided, and no cleaning work is required. There is also no noise from fans. The integrated grid and system protection simplifies installation and reduces installation costs.

With our new hybrid inverter, we are delivering the right device for modern, energy-independent homes. With its high efficiency, ability to operate using standby power and simple installation, it is a typical example of the high quality of KATEK power electronics, with which we achieved an annual turnover growth of over 30 percent last year“, Klauspeter Bader, Managing Director of KATEK Memmingen, explains.

KATEK increases market share for home storage inverters

PRESS RELEASE

KATEK increases market share for home storage inverters

Memmingen/Germany, 18 May 2021 – Leading electronics service provider KATEK has increased its market share for home storage inverters. Around 30 percent of all energy storage systems with a power output of up to 10 kW sold in Germany in 2020 were fitted with a KATEK inverter.

With this market share, we are one of Germany’s leading inverter suppliers for the home storage segment. This success also stands for the performance and competitiveness of our development and manufacturing efforts in the Allgäu region”, says Werner Gut, director of the solar and energy division.

The company supplies various leading storage systems providers with single-phase and three-phase inverters for high and low voltage systems. At its Memmingen location, KATEK not only develops and manufactures OEM components, but also inverters that form part of the “Steca –A KATEK Brand.”

Technology platform enables flexible design

One of the main driving forces behind the success of our inverters is the central technology platform used in all devices,” explains Werner Gut. This platform’s specific topology enables fully housing-independent cooling and thus particularly flexible product design. In addition, the Steca coolcept technology enables inverters to consistently yield highest peak efficiencies over the entire temperature range.

An additional advantage is the use of common, tried-and-tested assemblies for different inverters. This makes for a particularly advantageous price-performance ratio for users, as production and quality control can be optimised specifically for these assemblies. Whenever there are enhancements to one assembly, all devices benefit from these improvements. The platform design also allows for new functionality to be added particularly easily when needed.

New products planned for this year

KATEK launched a new development department for hybrid inverters back in January of this year. The team’s development efforts include energy management functionality, high voltage battery storage solutions and next-generation technology for residential buildings. “Our new development team will launch additional new solutions and products this year and help us strengthen our leadership position,” adds Werner Gut.
